What is editing? a short video

What is an editor?, I am often asked this question when I try and explain my vocation. 

Editing is the art of putting video/film together in a way that tells a story that is emotionally relevant. See for me the most important aspect of filmmaking is to evoke feeling and emotion through the combination of images, music, sound and story. The editor is the person who will make this happen through going through troves of raw footage and piecing something together then slowly chipping away at the whole to create something emotional and engaging.

The positives are that the editor plays an integral part in the formation of the final video product. The editor will work very closely with the director to make their vision come to life.
