Duty of Care: Protecting Children In War

In May 2016 the UN will be holding in Istanbul, Turkey the UN Humanitarian Summit. Currently there are a round of regional and online consultations that are being undertaken with the hope of bringing together humanitarian organizations, UN agencies, governments, businesses, academic institutions and people affected by disasters and conflicts to develop new solutions to humanitarian challenges. To find out more information on how you can get in touch and join this please visit the UN humanitarian summit webpage

The UK based organisation War Child have created a campaign trying to highlight the complete lack of resources devoted to protecting children in conflicts. That campaign can be found here

What this particular campaign highlights is that children are often the most vulnerable people who suffer during times of conflict. In the world today there are any number of conflicts raging in the Middle East, Asia, Africa & South America. The psychological impacts that these conflicts has on children is undeniable and we in the West have been guilty of often turning a blind eye to the plight that children around the world find themselves in.
