Domestic Violence awareness videos

Over the last couple of weeks,  I have come across 2 very important videos that create awareness on the issue of domestic violence.

The first video a public service announcement released around the 2014 celebrations for International Women's day, highlights the sad reality that many women face on a day to day basis. The video is chilling in its depiction of the violence, in what starts off as a typical day shown through the Point of View of our protagonist wife, using her new google glass gadget. What the video does so well, is create a sense of safety and normality to this particular wife's daily life. When this normality is suddenly broken by her husbands vicious attack, we the viewer feel that sudden and horrible impact. Very powerful video. The campaign is being spread through the twittersphere with the hashtag #throughglass.

The second video that I have come across is one that shows the other side of domestic violence, the side that is rarely depicted in the media nor ever really being brought to light through adequate awareness campaigns.  It is the type of domestic violence where the wife in the relationship is the main perpetrator of violence. While the vast majority of cases are situations where the husband is the main perpetrator, it is important to also acknowledge that situations like the one depicted in this video are a reality for many husbands world wide.
